VALENCIA

Perfect as a citytrip!
With 4 days we had plenty of time to see everything. Our apartments were located in the center so we had everything within walking distance.
DAY 1
~~~~~
We arrived by plane and took the subway to the center, which took about 25minutes. At the airport itself you can buy a ticket with a reloadable card.
When we came out of the subway we immediately saw the culture and nature!
The stop in the center is at the central station and the arena, these are very beautiful buildings. But just as you came out of the metro there was a huge fence with purple flowers, beautiful!
Perfect for some instagram-worthy photos ;)
After dropping off our stuff at the apartment (rented with airbnb) we went into town to get something to eat and drink on a terrace.
After cozying up on a terrace until it got dark we went back to our apartment.
Ps: if you are ever in Spain and want to taste local beer, we recommend "Estrella".
I wanted to warm up again since it was only 14degrees outside , but that backfired.
When I put my head under the shower to wash my hair, it was ice cold water! This was the only downside of our city trip.
After we finished we went out for dinner. While walking around the city, we had spotted a place with cocktails and happy hour on tapas! This is what we were looking for.
Toast one is the name of this place. We ended up eating 6 rounds of tapas and drinking 2 cocktails each and we only lost €37! The tapas were during happy hour €2.50 and the cocktails €5.
This was a very succesfull first day.
DAY 2
~~~~~~
When we woke up it was raining tremendously so we dressed warm enough.
First we went looking for coffee!
The Starbucks was right on the corner of our street (which yes is super touristy), with a super good deal! We ordered 2 large coffees and 2 cinnamon rolls and sat down at a table for a while so we could work on our mastermind (Mastermind about finding your true path again, feel free to send a message for more explanation.).
When we asked for our bill, the woman explained that if you came back tomorrow, you get 50% off! That's a really nice deal... 2 coffees for the price of 1.
We went for a walk around to see things but soon had to stop again to buy an umbrella. On every street corner you can find an "ale hop" store! A very nice store full of knickknacks.
First we arrived at the big Cathedral just at the hour of Sunday mass. We stayed outside for a while looking at the building but unfortunately couldn't see much of it. The square in front of the Cathedral was being renovated in 2022 so hopefully you will have more luck.
We decided to walk through the cozy streets and see what we came across. The streets are still very cultural and old, nice to see.
Behind the cathedral you come to a square where there are tangerine trees. Here we made a stop for some colorful pictures.
You can see there that the cathedral and the building next to it are connected by a bridge. This makes it so much fun to walk around, under the little bridges.
Once we walked under those we came out on the famous marble square with a statue of the Virgin. Nice to have seen once but you are quickly around again.
We decided to continue walking and not much further we saw the towers of Valencia. I really wanted to see them so we went looking for tickets. The man showed us around and apparently we could go in for free, maybe because it was a Sunday...
You certainly have nice viewpoints in the tower and some serious stairs to climb. The view completely at the top was not fantastic. You could see many cranes standing in the old city, and on the other side you could see a busy lane with the park behind it. It was fun to do but definitely be careful with kids. There are no safety windows or delineators.
We went for another walk through the park afterwards towards the eye, and had lunch. The rest of this day we kept it quiet. After a nice warm lunch we walked back to the apartment (which was quite a distance), and did a movie night with two.

DAY 3
~~~~~~
We were looking forward to this day immensely! Today we met up with Laura, Stefanie and Joni from the Mastermind we are in ourselves.
Pieter and I went to a rental point to rent scooters for the whole day. I was a bit scared at first because I had never done this before, so we decided to drive through the park and walk there first. We had to go all the way to the coast , which was about half an hour by scooter.
The park of Valencia is about 9km long and very nice to walk through.
When we got to the park we wanted to test out the scooter first and we were off. Very nice! Definitely recommend renting one if you are here.
The sun came out so we decided to make a stop at the eye of Valencia to take some pictures and look around. It was quiet there because it was Monday and outside the tourist season.
Another 15 minute drive and we were at the beach where we met everyone for the first time.
We went to find a cozy lunch spot at the sea , that is also dog friendly.
Stefanie had her two small dogs with her but that was usually not a problem.
Boa beach Valencia was our first stop and the dogs were allowed in immediately. Really a super cozy lunch spot! They did not speak very good English here but we were able to arrange it all.
Here I had eggs benedict with salmon and avocado, hhmmmmm.
After walking around at the sea, Pieter and I went back to the center with our scooters and brought them back to the store.
We agreed to meet up in the center to continue our fun day.
Our second stop was just before the cathedral, the "Ammos" restaurant. These people were so dog friendly that they were even allowed to walk freely around the table! Inside it was super cozy with all pastel shades.
Here we had a cocktail and talked a bit until the rain outside was over.
It wasn't really warm so we quickly looked for a place to sit inside.
Our third stop also had a happy hour so we ordered a cocktail and a tapa board. It was very cozy here and the brown leather seats were super chill , again not making a problem of the doggies. So we ordered our first round again to talk some more.
We saw that they wanted to close so went on to our fourth and final stop.
Toast one again... we sat down here on the terrace, cozy next to the heat lamps. Here we all had a few more gin tonics with some tapas to go with it.
After a super fun day with friends, we spent €57 per person for the whole day of food and drinks.
So great how cheap Valencia is!
This evening we slept very well!
